Thank you so much for choosing HRC for your stay in Costa Rica. Here is some additional information to review. Our food options are at the bottom of the page.
Transport
We can provide a bus and English speaking driver for the duration of your stay. Highly recommended if you are a large group (3 or more rental cars) or do not want to drive on Costa Rica’s infamously treacherous roads. The cost of this service is as follows:
10-18 people: 3-7 Days $320 a day. 7+ Days $310.
2-9 People: 3-7 Days $210 a day. 7+ Days $200 a day.
***In all cases you must provide for the Driver’s food and lodging. Otherwise additional $50/day for driver’s food and shelter. Pricing is subject to a review of your proposed itinerary with the chauffeur. ***
HRC vehicle recovery. If your car gets stuck, call us.
Local Attractions
HRC Wellness Center. The wellness center is a 15 min. drive from the lodge on our sister property. It has the swimming pool, labyrinth, private access to lake Arenal and jungle trails. It is great for kids. Please reserve with Jorge prior to visiting. ***Wellness center closes at 6PM unless by special request. No glass bottles or smoking is permitted on the property***
El Bañadero This is where the ticos go to access lake arenal. Great to camp out with your car, barbecue and watch the sunset. There is also a trail out to the peninsula with more views of the lake (use a 4x4 vehicle or take a short walk).
HRC Tours
Waterfall tour at the farm (Complimentary) 1-2 hrs. long.
Planting trees at the farm (Complementary) 1-2 hrs. long.
Night Tour with Allan. See indigenous plants and animals in their natural habitats. $40/person - Highly Recommended. Starts at 6PM, 1.5-2.5 hrs. long.
Boat and Kayak tour with Allan. 3hrs. in Boat and 1hr. in Kayaks. $70/person. Fruits and Drinks included.
Birding tour with Allan. $40/person.
Horse back riding at El Establo. This is 15 min. from the lodge and next to the wellness center: $50/person, 2 hour tour to view points near the lake.
Tour of the medicinal plants in our primary jungle with Elias (A Maleku Medicine Man) $200 - up to 10 people. 2 hour long tour.
Therapeutic Massage at the lodge. $65/person. 1 hour long.
Recommended Attractions in the Greater Area
Tico Wind. Lake Arenal is one of the top windsurf locations in the world. These are the people to do it with.
Entertainment
Karaoke $25/hr. w/master of ceremonies.
Various latin and reggae DJs can be booked (please ask Mahar well in advance).
Los Rumberos (6 person classic latin band) $1000, 2 hour long show.
Professional Firework Show by pyrotec, $1000 for approx. 10 min.
Food
Chef Arturo Paniagua Preparing his “Classical Trio” at HRC Lodge
A typical Costa Rican or American style breakfast is $17/person, prepared by the HRC team. Please try and give at least 48 hours advance notice for this option.
Lunch or Dinner: $29 per person, also prepared by the HRC team. Most food is sourced locally and is organic. Children under 5 eat for free. Please try and give at least 48 hours advance notice for this option.
We can invite a local grill master to prepare a three course meal with his grill and waitstaff: $38-50/person depending on options and number of people. Please try to give at least 5 days advance notice for this option.
Finally, HRC offers a farm to table option with a professional chef and team (pictured above). This goes between $75-100 per person depending on the meal. Please try to give at least two weeks advance notice for this option. The chef books out very quickly but may be available on shorter notice. It doesn’t hurt to ask.
